Math Van

Lindsay has been a part of a research study since kindergarten. It is being conducted by the University of Missouri. I was afraid when we moved to Kansas she would have to drop out. Fortunately there is a van that comes to the kids. I was astounded to hear that they would come all the way here. I'm glad though. I think that long term research can better prove theories and can show patterns. This study is tracking children and math through the school years. Interestingly enough when we moved here there was a great hullabaloo in CoMo concerning teaching methods in the schools there. Columbia Public schools have since decided to go back to a more traditional approach. When Lindsay started school in the Shawnee Mission district she was almost two years behind her peers in math. She has had additional tutoring this year that is helping her catch up.

How cool is that, that they're coming to you in KS?? Will the study continue until Lin graduates HS? As for the teaching methods in Columbia, I think I would be a bit upset about that. :( Glad to hear things are progressing well.
